Tamaiti Whangai PHO has an enrolled population of 4,800. This population receives medical services at the Waiwhetu Medical Centre (Waiwhetu) and the Waiwhetu Medical Centre (Petone). The PHO’s enrolled population is drawn from throughout the Hutt Valley, with the largest numbers coming from Wainuiomata, Petone and Lower Hutt. Over time, the PHO will explore how the health clinics based at the different marae which are represented on Tamaiti Whangai PHO could develop a GP capability. Tamaiti Whangai PHO has identified how it will spend the additional funding the PHO receives for Health Promotion (HP) and Services to Improve Access (SIA). The SIA funding involves an early screening programme and the health promotion programme focuses on smoking cessation and diabetes. The PHO’s activities are described in more detail in its Business plan which is attached. To view Tamaiti Whangai PHO's Business Plan click here.
