The tangata whenua completed our
first ‘Takiwa Policy Statement’ on May 26, 2006. The TPS is referred to as
an ‘Iwi Planning Document’ under the Resource Management Act 1991. The TPS
is made up of three components:
(1) Te Ahuatanga - The Context
(2) Nga Tikanga Whakahaere - The Policy Statements
(3) Whakatinana Tikanga - Implementation
We have officially lodged the policy statement with Greater Wellington and
the three city councils, Wellington, Hutt City and Upper Hutt within the
takiwa, however, individuals among the general public are encouraged to
voice their opinions. Therefore if you wish to view the draft Takiwa Policy
Statement, contact our environment manager either by e-mail

copy of the draft will be promptly forwarded to you.
